The 2015 Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index is out and the Utica-Rome-Mohawk Valley region is one of the top 20 fattest cities in America, according to the survey.

Our area was tied for 18th place with Akron, Ohio for the most obese cities in the country. According to the survey, the Greater Utica Region has an obesity rate of 31.5%, just slightly lower than Binghamton which placed 14th with an obesity rate of 32.2%.

The survey sampled more than 500,000 adults across 189 metropolitan areas in the United States.

Huntington-Ashland, W.Va.-Ky.-Ohio, was the most-obese city with an obesity rate of 39.5 percent.  Boulder, Colorado was the least obese city with an obesity rate below 15%.

Among the nation's largest cities, Rochester was the sixth fattest with an obesity rate of 28.6%.
