Deep Space Industries revealed a plan that would seek out and dig into asteroids near Earth. The spectacular endeavor has already attracted a lot of interest and investors with hopes of paving the way for in-space industries. There are an estimated 2-3 million asteroids that are considered to be near-Earth and suitable for exploration and mining missions. The company expects to launch the first mission, which will last 3-4 years, in 2016 and expect to return to Earth with 100 pounds of asteroid samples.
