Chris Young celebrated his latest No. 1 hit, "I'm Comin' Over," with a huge party honoring himself and his co-writers, Corey Crowder and Josh Hoge, on Monday night (Jan. 11) in downtown Nashville. The song was the debut single from and is the title track of Young's fifth studio album, and even though the singer has six previous chart-topping hits under his belt, this one is particularly special.

"[Seven] has been my lucky number ever since I was a little kid," Young told the crowd, noting that this No. 1 is his first as a producer. "I think a lot of people go, ‘You got another one. That’s cool,' [but] I think the crazy thing about this song in particular is, I needed this; I really did. I needed a song that really and truly resonated with people and that was a hit, and from the first day I sat down in a room with both of these guys, we immediately started cracking jokes and loving what we came out with."

The Tennessee native acknowledges that he and his two co-writers had creative chemistry from the moment that they entered the writing room.

"The first song we wrote was called "Alone Tonight." It's on the record. That never happens," Young explains. "The second song we wrote is on the record. That never happens. We really knew we had something special.

"I’m incredibly, incredibly lucky to know these guys," Young adds of Crowder and Hoge. "It’s their first No. 1. This is one of the most special things I’ve ever stood on a stage and talked about. It’s a pretty incredible song. I’m really glad I got to meet them and write with them."

Hoge himself notes that he took plenty of risks on his way to scoring his first chart-topping single.

"I gave up Whiskey Jam, I gave up touring in a group called Jukebox Mafia with Miranda Lambert, because I just wanted to be a better father to my 4-year-old boy," he says. "I haven’t done a lot of things in life that I’m very proud of, but being his dad and getting to do this with [Crowder and Young] are the coolest things that ever happened to me."

"I'm Comin' Over" may be Young's seventh No. 1, but it earned him his very first No. 1 banner on Music Row -- an honor that the artist has been waiting almost a decade to achieve.

"I used to be [on] EMI, and they didn’t post banners. They had no grass. And then EMI got eaten by Sony, and so then I went over to Sony, and I proceeded to have two songs that got all the way to No. 3, and then the next song went to No. 1, but I didn’t write it," Young recalls. "So this was the first time ... I went home and stopped my car and got out next to it, and that was one of the coolest moments I’ve ever had."

"I'm Comin' Over" is available for download on iTunes.
