Chewing Gum Helps Students With Math

When I was in school (here I go sounding like grandpa) getting caught chewing gum in class was a punishable offense. Now, apparently, it has shown to be helpful to students doing math both in class and with homework. A FoxNews report says a study by Baylor College of Medicine found that students who chewed gum while working on math tests scored better than those who didn’t.According to the report researchers aren’t sure why chewing gum helps raise math test scores but suggest the chewing motion helps stimulate blood flow in the brain or the repetitive native of chewing itself could reduce stress. One note of caution. The study was sponsored by the Wrigley Science Institute an affiliate of one of the worlds foremost producers of–you guessed it–gum!
