Chewing Gum Can Help You Lose Weight

A couple of years ago I went on a diet to lose a few pounds. I found that if I chewed gum that my food cravings would not be as great. I had no scientific evidence that chewing gum would help my diet but now there is a new study that shows that it can indeed help.
According to the study’s author, Marion Hetherington, Ph.D,
When people chomped on sugarless gum for at least 15 minutes one hour after eating and then again at the two-hour mark, their desire for sweets decreased by 11 percent compared with that of study participants who didn’t work their jaws. The gum chewers also downed, on average, 36 fewer calories when they were turned loose on a buffet of sweet and salty snacks three hours after lunch.
The study went on to say that the reduced food craving may have something to do with the sweetness of the gum. So instead of “chewing the fat” use your gum to chew the fat “away”.
