It's sad news for Bluegrass fans. The family-band Cherryholmes have decided to go their separate ways.

Parents Jere and Sandy Cherryholmes and children Cia, B.J., Skip and Molly have announced the reason for the split is so family members can do their own thing. On their official website it says, "With spouses to consider and differing career aspirations, they deserve the freedom to choose their own paths without the extreme interdependence that exists in a family business."

Cherryholmes released four albums on Ricky Skaggs’ label.

Being a huge bluegrass fan myself, they will be missed. First it was splits from Nickel Creek and now it's the Cherryholmes.

If you're not familiar with the Cherryholmes, watch the clip for a little preview of their magical bluegrass sound.
