Cheers To American Craft Beer Week
As a former tour guide at the F.X. Matt Brewing Company, I live by the motto “Beer is thicker than water”. That’s why I like to share beer news with you. This is American Craft Beer Week across the country, and a number of local events are taking place to celebrate that fact.

The F.X. Matt Brewery was one of the first small breweries in the country to get into the craft beer business. For nearly three decades, Matt’s has been contract brewing a number of craft beers for other small breweries. But they’re best known for their own line of Saranac craft beers. While they also brew Utica Club, a hometown favorite, it’s considered a yellow beer, and doesn’t fall into the category of “craft beer” (try to tell that to a die-hard UC fan).
According to saranac.com:
“From May 14-20, celebrations will be held in Central New York and across all 50 states as communities come together to show appreciation on the local level for the more than 1,900 small and independent craft brewers responsible for steadily advancing American craft beer culture. To officially celebrate American Craft Beer Week, we will be hosting our 3rd Annual Saranac Session: A Craft Beer & Food Pairing Experience, on Friday May 18th, in our Tour Center from 6-9PM.
We hope you can join us for a cheers to local craft beer!”
