Championship Weekend at Utica Rome Speedway
Labor Day weekend is considered the last blast of summer and it’s the last run for the season points championships at Utica Rome Speedway too. It’s not the last night of racing, but the last race for the points and it always ends with bang as the night closes with fireworks plus the Super Sprints are back for the final time in 2012.

By showing up to compete this Sunday, Stewart Friesen will become the 2012 Utica-Rome Speedway Modified champion for the third consecutive season and the fifth time overall. While Friesen should be collecting the $10,000 champion’s check this fall at the Award’s Banquet, there is still a lot of positions behind him that could change.
Matt Janczuk likewise just needs to just show up to claim his second consecutive Sporstman Championship. The same can be said for Tom Denton, the Pro Stock points leader. The Pure Stock crown is still closely contested though, with Ron Hawker leading in points. Chris Cunningham and Ricky Breed could still sneak in for the championship. Get more details on the points standings here. Gates open at 3 and racing starts at 5:30.
