Central New York is home to the state's newest park, Delphi Falls in Madison County. As the name suggests there's a waterfall, 2 in fact. And the story on how it became open to the public is as beautiful as the falls themselves.

According to Syracuse.com, Delphi Falls was in privates hands until a retired S.U. professor fell in love with its beauty and wanted to share it with everyone. He purchased the property and then sold it to Madison County at a steep discount to make a park.

On their website, Madison County Officials say "it will take years to fully develop the 60-acre park." As it stands now, the facility is open year-round from sunrise to sunset. Fishing is allowed but not swimming. You can the list of park rules at Madison County's website. The park is located at 2006 Cardner Road in New Woodstock.
