If you have some German ancestory, you'll want to celebrate "German-American Day" in Utica this Thursday. I'm 1/4 German heritage, as my maternal Grandfather was of German extraction and a proud member of the Utica Maennerchor. Check out some of Thursday's special events.

"October 3, 2013 at 9:00 AM until 9:30 AM Location: Utica City Hall Event Description: Flag raising of American and German flags will commemorate the arrival of the first group of Germans settlers to reach American shores 330 years ago.

A Liederabend (German and American sing-along) will take place at 6 PM with a ham and cabbage dinner at the Utica Maennerchor, 5535 Flanagan Road in Marcy. Song booklets will be provided to enhance participation and celebration of 330 years in America."
