Any snowfall that's less than a foot wouldn't scare most Central New Yorkers, but today's (3/13) Winter Weather Advisory comes with possible sleet. Click for the details.
As you may be aware by our Frogcast today, the Utica-Rome area could see significant snow beginning late this afternoon and continuing overnight (4 - 7 inches possible). In anticipation of the snowfall, the City of Utica is declaring a snow emergency beginning tonight.
Upstate New Yorkers know that a calendar is pretty useless this time of year when it comes to predicting the weather. Although spring is officially set to arrive on Wednesday all the latest weather models show no signs of any warmup soon. But how about last March, do you remember how spring arrived in 2012? Hopefully, we all sprung ahead this past weekend to begin Dayllght Savings Time, and even though we lost an hour of sleep, by now we've made it up (although my father claimed that he lost an hour of sleep everynight until we returned to standard time). So how much more daylight did we gain?
