I may not agree with him politically but since I don't take politics all that seriously I can still find plenty of reasons to like Clint Eastwood. First of all, he's a talented actor whose career I have followed since he played Rowdy Yates on "Rawhide" back in the late 50's and early 60's. There are the terrific movies he has starred in and directed. And then there's the fact that he doesn't take himself too seriously as in a recent interview on CNBC.

The U.S Congress has been taking its lumps lately with most public opinion polls showing it with some of the lowest approval ratings in history. Now comes word that our congressmen and women are less popular than head lice, root canals and cockroaches. A new survey by Public Policy Polling--done somewhat tongue in cheek--found that our representatives popularity pales in comparison to some other less than lovable subjects.

Weird New Laws Taking Effect Today

It's a new year and with it comes a number of new laws designed to make the world a safer place. Sort of. While most laws tend to make sense there are some that defy logic. For example, according to ABC News, Illinois is making it illegal to possess, sell or distribute shark fins. Sure, it may be intended to protect certain species of shark but since Illinois--last time I looked--was nowhere near the ocean one has to wonder how big a problem this is. Farm Bill Extension Heading To House Floor

An extension of the 2008 Farm Bill has passed both the House and Senate Agriculture committees and appears headed for a vote. According to NPR the passage would head off milk price increases that would have doubled the cost of a gallon of milk and raised the price of other dairy products as early as next month. However there is still some uncertainty.
