10 Years After Terrorist Attacks, 9/11 Memorial to Open [PHOTOS]

The Sept. 11 Memorial is set to open exactly 10 years and one day after the planes crashed into the World Trade Center. The 9/11 Memorial will open on September 12, after being dedicated during Sunday’s remembrance ceremony in New York City.

National 9/11 Flag Touring the United States

After the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center, one of the largest American flags damaged during the attacks continued to fly above the resulting wreckage during the clean-up efforts.

Seven years later, that flag, dubbed the National 9/11 Flag, was sewn back together by tornado survivors in Greensburg, Kansas, and has also been stitched by World War II veterans, survivors of the Ft. Hood, Texas rampage, and Martin Luther King Jr.’s family.

Sugarland Tonight at New York State Fair

Sugarland will take the grandstand stage at the New York State Fair tonight.  It was only a little over three weeks ago, their stage collapsed at the Indiana State Fair, killing seven people.  The entire band took time off to heal, then returned to the road to heal together.  They began thier first show back in New Mexico with a moment of silence for the lives lost in the tragedy.

I'm sure they'll take a moment tonight as well.  Then they'll do what they do and rocked the roof off the place.

Jerry Springer at the New York State Fair [PHOTOS]

Dotti Spina of Sauquoit got to meet Jerry Springer at the New York State fair.  He was in town Wednesday to promote his new GSN show 'Baggage' at the Time Warner building.  Dotti found out Jerry shares a birthday with her son.  Jerry told Dotti he was born in England close to where her dad grew up and was born on a subway. She says he's a very nice NORMAL man.  Thanks for sharing your pictures.  I'm glad Jerry was such a great guy!

Quake Shakes Central New York

If you felt the ground move around 2 this afternoon, you're not going crazy.  An earthquake, centered in Virginia was felt in Washington DC , Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, New York City and here in Central New York.  The quake hit about 40 miles from Richmond and caused evacuations at all government buildings in DC and control towers at JFK and Newark airports .

Listeners felt the shakes all over the area.  We asked if anyone else felt the tremor on our Facebook page and had a flurry or responses from Utica to Syracuse to Mohawk. So if you felt it, you weren't alone.

David Nail at New York State Fair Chevy Court

The last set of free shows at New York State Fairs Chevy Court have been announced and David Nail will perform September 2nd. 

You can see the "Red Light" singer at 2pm and then head to the grandstands for the Lady Antebellum show that night.  Nail joins the elite country list of acts previously announced for Chevy Court including Ronnie Dunn, Trace Adkins, Steel Magnolia and Jake Owen.  In addition to Lady A at the grandstand, Sugarland will perform the following night, September 3rd.

2011 Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest Highlights @ Coney Island [VIDEO]

Joey "Jaws" Chestnut is once again the hot dog eating champ.  He downed 62 dogs in 10 minutes at the annual Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest at Coney Island.

But his arch rival Takeru Kobayashi doesn't agree.  He's been banned from the event because of a contract dispute with Major League Eating, so he held his own event on the roof of a Manhattan bar.  Kobayashi polished off 69 dogs in 10 minutes as teh Nathan's contest played on the TV beside him.
