January 25, 2012 Everyone is talking about the New York Giants win in overtime after San Fransisco fumbled a punt in overtime, sending them to the Super Bowl. But Baltimore Ravens kicker Billy Cundiff missed a field goal to send their game against the New England Patriots into overtime. Reminds me of a Jim Carey movie about kicker Ray Finkle missing a field goal to win the game.
The 2012 Oscars are just around the corner. It’s our favorite time of year when the really hardcore movie fans throw parties and get aggravated when all their guests aren’t paying close attention. Well, start getting pumped ’cause the Oscar nominations have been released. Check ‘em out below.
January 19, 2012 A host of new movies are opening in local theaters this weekend, two of which feature some of Hollywood's biggest stars. "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" stars Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock while "Haywire" features a number of familiar faces including Michael Douglas, Ewan MacGregor, Antonio Banderas and MMA superstar Gina Carano. Appearing on the ‘Today’ show this morning because of their new film ‘Joyful Noise,’ Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah took the descriptor “cross-genre” just one step further. When host Ann Curry pointed out that hip-hop and country had an intersection in the two artists, Parton innocently said, “We never thought about that. We just thought it’d be rap stuff,” and then she jumped right into a rap with Latifah beat-boxing at her side.

January 11, 2012 Keith Urban proves he can do more than sing. He co-wrote the song 'For You' for the Navy SEAL action-thriller 'Act of Valor.' This is the first time Keith has written and recorded a song for a movie. You'll hear the tune under the film's end credits. It'll also be available on iTunes and on the movie soundtrack, in stores February 21st.

The Jets are playing Miami for no other reason than it is on the schedule. So I start flipping through the channels when much to my delight I find that --on TCM--my favorite John Wayne movie is about to start.
