Heart Run & Walk And Radiothon Coming In March

Two signature events of the Utica-Rome area are "America's Greatest Heart Run and Walk" and WIBX Slocum Dickson Heart Radiothon broadcast on our sister station WIBX. This year, the radiothon begins Friday, March 2 and continues on Saturday, March 3rd, the day of the run/walk. All of us at Big Frog 104 participate as "guest" hosts broadcasting a few hours on the air.

The popularity of yogurt is proving to be a boom to upstate New York dairy farmers. With New Berlin based Agro Farma, makers of America's best selling yogurt Chobani, having already announced plant expansion plans and Johnstown's Fage USA--another yogurt maker--expanding its facilities the demand for milk from upstate farmers is bound to increase. The Little Falls Times reports that even more yogurt making production might be in the offing.

Wilson of Corning, Iowa consumed nothing but water and dopplelbock beer, a hardy brew favored by an order of German monks,  for 46 days.  His purpose according to LA Weekly was not to experience a continual buzz but to test his willpower and exercise his spirituality. He has now chronicled his experiences in a book entitled "Diary of A Part Time Monk".

100 Year Old Runs Full Marathon

After doing 50 minutes on a treadmill I feel a sense of great  accomplishment. Imagine how insufficient I felt when I heard about the 100-year old man who ran and finished a full marathon yesterday in Toronto, Ontario. According to AP Fauja Singh finished the marathon in a little under 8 hours some 6 hours behind the race winner Kenneth Mungara of Kenya.
