War Of The Worlds On The Radio

It was a scary Halloween Eve for millions of Americans back on October 30, 1938 when the "Mercury Players on the Air", starring Orson Welles broadcast "War of The Worlds", by science fiction writer H.G. Wells. As radio was in its early days, over 2 million people listening thought it was real, and started to panic. Seeing that it's Halloween today during the "Frog Days of Fall", I thought it would be fun to take a listen to a bit of that broadcast.

Parents Buy Halloween Candy They Like

I've done it. You've probably done it too. We've gone out to buy candy for Halloween trick or treaters and had to decide which sweets we should get. Inevitably we seem to pick a candy that we like ourselves, just in case there aren't enough kids coming to the door to empty that bag. I mean, we don't want it go to waste, right? Now there is a new survey that confirms that 83% of parents do buy the sweets they themselves love to eat.

Five Great TV-Inspired Halloween Costumes [PHOTOS]

Still don’t have a costume for Halloween? You might want to hurry since the big day is less than a week away.

To help out a little, TV.com has a bunch of ideas for costumes inspired by TV characters. Some are kinda lame (going as Barney from ‘How I Met Your Mother’ means you’re basically just a dude in a nice suit), but there are some you could have fun with. In addition to ‘The Walking Dead’ (above), here are the five best we found from the list.

Polly Wogg’s Halloween Night [PHOTOS]

For something different, Tadpole & I decided to get out of town for the weekend.  We went to Syracuse and decided to go bar hopping.  Something we haven't done in more years than I care to admit.  We forgot it was Halloween weekend and that meant costumes, costumes and more costumes.  There were so many great get-ups, we decided to take pictures of the night's best.  Keep in mind Tadpole used his cell phone to take the pictures, which isn't the best in a dark club.

How Are Dum Dum Pops Made? [VIDEO]

Happy Halloween! Yes, today's the day you're going to get all dressed up and go trick-or-treating. You're going to get tons of candy. And, you're probably going to sift through it all to pick out the stuff you love and will keep all to yourself and the candy you don't like  and let the older people have. For me, my favorite candy was, and still is, the Dum Dum Pop. I think I like them so much because of their simplicity. It's a small lollipop--can't get much more simple than that. If you have had a Dum Dum Pop in the last few years, have you ever come across the mystery flavor? Well, there are mystery flavors in every bag and you never know what you're going to get. Now, in honor of Halloween, here is a video of how Dum Dums are made from the Food Network. The video also tells how they make the mystery flavors. Enjoy. What's your favorite candy?

Halloween is just around the corner during the "Frog Days of Fall", and I'm sure we'll see a number of vampires...specifically Count Dracula. Over the years, most impressions (good and bad, but mostly bad) of Count Dracula are based on the classic Bela Lugosi portrayal of the blood thirsty count.
