NASCAR and country music go hand in glove so it's no surprise that once again a country superstar has been chosen to headline the February 20th Daytona 500 Pre-Race Show. Brad will perform 3 songs prior to the start of the season opening NASCAR Sprint Series event.

“Rolling” With The Band Perry

Cross-genre duets are nothing new but it seems that more and more country artists are getting involved lately. Jason Aldean and Reba McEntire have both joined forces with Kelly Clarkson recently following in the footsteps of Jennifer Nettles (with Jon Bon Jovi) , Kenny Chesney (with Uncle Cracker) and Rascal Flatts (with Natasha Bedingfield). How about the hot new family trio out of Nashville "The Band Perry". Their dream duet partner?

I remember going to a Colin Raye show at the Stanley a few years ago and being taken by surprise when he finished his set with a rocking version of Rod Stewart's "Hot Legs". Country and rock have often been fused to form the hybrid known as "country-rock" and now Jason Aldean is planning to mine this territory on his new tour.

Happy Bday S-C-R-A-B-B-L-E

It was on this day in 1955, January 19th, that the board game "Scrabble" was introduced. The game has not only helped increase the vocabulary of generations of players but assisted with proper spelling as anyone who has ever lost a challenge due to a misspelled word can attest. My wife and I play nearly every day and have found delight in forming such rarely--if ever--used words as "qi", "zax" and "ki". The record for the most points possible for a single word?

Steve Martin-A Wild and Crazy Picker

Steve Martin is a man of many talents, comedian, artist, writer, producer and, unknown to many, a very talented musician. His bluegrass banjo playing earned him a Grammy Award for his first CD, "The Crow: New Songs For the Five String Banjo". Now Steve and his backup band The Steep Canyon Rangers are back with a new collection of bluegrass tunes penned by "the wild and crazy guy" himself. And if you find it hard to picture Steve Martin the virtuoso musician...

Good News For Alabama Fans

They were the most successful country band of the 80's and early 90's with some 40 #1 hits, sell-out shows and a few fireplace mantles full of awards. Then some 7 years ago they decided to park the tour bus and call it a day career wise. Now it appears that lead singer Randy Owen and good buddy Teddy Gentry  may be rounding up the old crew to so some more work. In the upcoming February 7th issue of Country Weekly magazine Randy addresses the possibility.
"Me and Jeff and Teddy, we're still together,” Randy says. "We told everybody we just didn't plan to tour for a while, or maybe ever, but we might do some recording. After all those years, it was time to do it."
