As you know, our Big Frog 104 Wild West FrogFest & Painted Pony Rodeo is Saturday, June 18th at the Herkimer County Fairgrounds in Frankfort, with Jeff Bates and Rodney Atkins. There are some thoughts you may want to consider before venturing out to Frogfest.
Rodney Atkins is a busy guy. And a well traveled one these days. Last night Rodney joined a star studded benefit concert to raise money for tornado relief in storm ravaged Alabama. Among those taking part were Brad Paisley, Sara Evans, Montgomery Gentry and the shows hosts Alabama. Rodney will be in Portland, Maine for a show Friday night before heading out to headline our Wild West Frogfest and Rodeo Saturday at the Herkimer County Fairgrounds. Here is what Rodney had to say about last nights "Bama Rising" concert.
We have had the opportunity over the past twenty-three years to enjoy the best in country music thanks to our Frogfest special guests. Some have been established artists while others have been hot newcomers that have gone on to stardom. I would say without question the most exciting of these special guests was Rascal Flatts at Frogfest 2000. Hot off their first top 10 song "Prayin' For Daylight" they put on an incredible show-in the rain no less!
Trying to recall my favorite moments from the past twenty-three Frogfests would fill a book so let me just pass a long a few and hope that you might recall them as well. Frogfest 2000 will always be remembered as the one that introduced us to a hot new group from Nashville that called themselves Rascal Flatts. They put on a great show despite the rain and showed us all why they eventually became the superstars they are.
Since I am the only member of the Big Frog staff to have experienced all twenty-something FrogFests I was asked if I could post a few of my recollections. I'll give it a go. You see, at my age I have trouble remembering what I had for breakfast this morning much less what happened at a FrogFest 20 years ago. However there are a few things that do stand out. Take that FrogFest back in 2000.
The country artists you hear on Big Frog 104 have big hearts. Day after day we learn of yet another country star performing at benefit concerts to help victims of recent natural disasters.
Kenny Chesney is no stranger to duets but he was a stranger to Grace Potter until the two met in the recording studio to cut "You and Tequila". Kenny had heard of her and admired her work but it wasn't until they actually met that he felt that there would be a real connection.

Country and rock cross paths once again on CMT's Crossroads as Luke Bryan teams up with the Doobie Brothers Friday, June 24th. As much as Luke is excited to meet up musically with the classic rock icons the Doobies are also looking forward to playing with one of today's rising country stars.
Justin Moore may be an up and coming country star but when it comes to meeting his musical heroes he just like you and me-a fan. That makes it tough to come up with something to say and sometimes what he does say is, well, a little embarrassing.
Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry will be joined by a host of current major league baseball players and executives on a panel to select the winners of an MLB online contest called "My Dad, My MVP". It is part of a Father's Day celebration to honor the father figures in baseball fans lives in every major league ballpark. The details can be found at "My Dad, My MVP". The voting began on May 11th and will continue through June 1.
The other day, I reported that the "Today" Show on NBC announced its summer concert schedule. Not to be outdone in the competitive media world, ABC's "Good Morning America" has now listed a few acts that will be performing on its summer concert segment.
