Your first reaction to this headline may be what is the Hot Club of Cowtown? They're a 3 piece Austin Western Swing band described as "the most globetrotting, hardest-playing Western swing trio on the planet." Think Bob Wills mixed with Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan. The trio is made up of Elana James, Whit Smith and Jake Erwin. And while the name is obviously synonymous with Texas, Elana and Whit actually formed the group when they met through the Village Voice in New York. Believe it or not Jerry Seinfeld's "Seinfeld" show has been off the air--except for syndication---for 13 years. How time flies. However, Jerry has not been resting on his laurels and is bringing his standup show to the Stanley Theater in Utica, Thursday, November 10, for one show at 7PM.
It seems like summer was just yesterday. Well, actually it was as today, Saturday the 24th, is the first full day of fall. My point is that with time passing at warp speed Christmas will be here before you know it which means another visit from Kenny Rogers as he will be bringing his "Christmas and Hits" show to the Turning Stone Resort Casino again this year. It is the 30th annual edition of this holiday favorite show and because of the previous high demand for tickets this year it will be presented in the Event Center rather than the Showroom.
Luke Bryan not only rocked the Utica Aud when his 'CMT on Tour' Tailgates & Tanlines show came to town, he also set a record for the most tickets sold in Utica College concert series 12 year history. Rodney Atkins has had some year. Of course we would say the highlight was his appearance at this years "Wild West Frogfest and Rodeo" back in June although Rodney might say it was just "one" of many. He recently scored his 5th #1 with "Take A Back Road" and according to CMT is now set to take part in the "CMA Songwriters Series" at Joe's Pub in New York City November 3rd.

Sugarland will take the grandstand stage at the New York State Fair tonight. It was only a little over three weeks ago, their stage collapsed at the Indiana State Fair, killing seven people. The entire band took time off to heal, then returned to the road to heal together. They began thier first show back in New Mexico with a moment of silence for the lives lost in the tragedy.
I'm sure they'll take a moment tonight as well. Then they'll do what they do and rocked the roof off the place.
