Cat Inherits $13 Million Dollar Fortune

“Occupy Wall Street” has drawn attention to certain “fat cats” in the financial world and now comes word of a feline whose wealth could probably put most of theirs to shame. According to ABC News, “Tommaso”, a one-time stray on the streets of Rome, Italy, has inherited a $13 million dollar fortune from its late owner Maria Assunta, widow of an Italian real estate magnate. The furry heir’s fortune–being administered by the late woman’s nurse Stefania–is not enough, however, to make it the world’s richest pet.
The windfall for Tommaso places him No.3 on the list of wealthy pets, behind Kalu the chimp, whose owner left him $80 million dollars, and top dog Gunther IV, a German shepherd who inherited $372 million dollars from his father, Gunther III, the beloved companion of an eccentric German countess.

What Tommaso will do with the money is anyone’s guess. Expensive catnip? Designer collar? Whatever he does with it I’m sure he’ll have a (hair) ball.
