Country music has long been dominated by male artists with the occasional female breakout artists like Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Shania Twain and , more recently, Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood. Carrie would like to see a little more gender parity on the country charts.

While she herself has prospered in the format she recently told CMT that she would like to hear more females on country radio and see more ladies on the country charts.

"I would love to see that a little more equaled out, but it will happen," We'll get there."

A case in point, this weeks Bob Kingsley's CT "Country Top 40" chart. There are only 2 female artists listed in the top 20, Taylor Swift and Miranda Lambert which shows there is plenty of room for improvement in getting more female representation.
