Heather Cox Coe, an American Idol alum, is having life saving brain surgery and former Idols are showing their support, including Carrie Underwood. Coe will have a tumor removed February 12th and her family is turning to the public to help raise funds to cover it. Underwood asked her fans to help on Facebook.

Coe, who appeared on Season 5 of American Idol, has been in and out of the hospital after suffering content headaches, and the familes finances have suffered greatly. They have the burden of out of pocket travel expenses, current hospital bills and a three month loss of income as Coe's husband Curtis takes time off for Heather's recovery.

Coe says their North Carolina town has really thrown their support behind her family. "Having the community’s support as well as my church family has been one of the ways I’ve been able to stay strong through this,' Coe tells the Elkin Tribune.

Idol Support

Former Idols Chris Daughter and Colton Dixon are also throwing their support behind Heather and her family.

Family Plea

Last fall, Heather and her two children thanked everyone for their donations and support while the family prepares for her surgery.
