Carrie Underwood Co-Hosts ‘Good Morning America’
Carrie Underwood may be a world-famous star now, but before her 'American Idol' days, she attended Northeastern State University, majoring in mass communications with an emphasis in journalism. Although she took some time off for 'Idol,' she finished up her degree in 2006, and finally put it to use Monday (Aug. 12) on 'Good Morning America.'
The 'See You Again' hitmaker admitted to having butterflies before her stint as a news anchor. "I'm a little nervous, but I'm good. I'm ready," she revealed, going on to present the 'Pop News Heat Index' segment.
Underwood introduced the newest issue of Vogue, which has the ever lovely Jennifer Lawrence on the cover, also spotlighting a few ingenious kids who covered a Rihanna song and then showing off her puppy love.
The songstress (and animal lover) talked about her love for puppies, mentioning that a university in Canada provided a room full of puppies to help students cope with stress of finals. "I thought we could use something like this. I've noticed that it's busy, it's stressful here," Underwood said.
And, without further ado, the 'Blown Away' singer grabbed a puppy, while Lara Spencer (filling in for regular co-anchor Robin Roberts), George Stephanopoulos, Josh Elliot and Ginger Zee played with other pups. The camera even panned to the other GMA 'behind the scenes' workers -- and they were all holding the adorable pups. There was lots of stress relief on the 'GMA' set today!
Underwood proved that she's a woman of many talents. She seemed perfectly comfortable in front of the camera, and looked pretty great too, her sweet personality coming through clearly on set. The songstress, who has already started thinking about her next studio album and tour, could always have a future in journalism. But selfishly, we hope Underwood will stick with singing!
