Timing is everything, and Department of Environmental Conservation couldn't have timed it any better. The Caroga Lake Campground reopens just in time for the July 4th holiday.

The facility is undergoing extensive renovations and will open for day use only. Picnicking, paddling, fishing, swimming will all be available as well as the use of the boat launch. Rental of row boats, canoes, and kayaks will also be available. Hours of operation will are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily through July 9. After that date the site will be open on weekends only.

The DEC is upgrading the waste water system and renumbering campsites. They hope to have the project completed before summer is over. Once finished, the facility will allow camping and be open on a daily basis.
