Can You Spell Your Home Town?
September 26, 2012 10:10 AM Living in the Mohawk Valley, we have it pretty easy as far as the spelling of our cities, towns and villages. Utica, Rome, Herkimer, Little Falls, Yorkville are pretty obvious. But what if we lived in Chattahooche, Biloxi, or Tallahassee? How many times would I misspell one of those on a loan appplication? A new survey lists the top 10 most misspelled cities.
According to a recent study by ePodunk, here are the top 10 toughest cities to spell:
10. Niagara Falls (Really? Aw come on).
9. Phoenix
8. Manhattan
7. Worcester (Just look on the sauce bottle).
6. Asheville
5. Culpeper
4. Albuquerque
3. Cincinnati
2. Tuscon
And the number one most misspelled American city is…Pittsburgh!
I’m just glad that I don’t live in Cheektowaga in Western, New York, as I would never get that spelling right.
