I would like to thank an incredibly dedicated farmer, my dad. My dad Brian Livermore, of Madison, NY, dedicates his entire life to our dairy farm and his family. Since the young age of 8, my dad began following his dad around the farm, operating equipment, and feeding the cattle knowing that one day he would carry on the tradition of feeding families. I would always ask my dad if he knew that he would run the farm when he was older and he told me no. He told me in high school he wanted to be a pilot. After going to college for two years, my grandfather acquired some health issues, and my dad had to make the life changing decision to run the family farm or further his education and pursue another dream. He chose to run the farm because he knew deep in his heart that’s where he belonged. I envy my father’s determination and passion towards what he truly loves. Every night before he goes to bed, he goes out and checks on all the cows and the barn to ensure everything is safe and everyone is comfortable. There has been nights where he has got up out of bed in the middle of the night just to go check on a cow that is going to freshen soon to make sure that she is not having any problems. My dad is the hardest worker I know. Not only does he operate the farm full time but he is also a full time mail carrier in the town of Madison, NY. Dad wakes up at the crack of dawn and does chores, grabs a bagel and a change of clothes and heads out the door to the post office, and at 3 he is back home on the tractor and in the fields. Yet, dad still makes time for his family celebrating birthdays, going on vacation, and attending soccer games. Brian Livermore is truly an incredible man both on the farm and as a father.

I would also like to recognize and thank my brother Andrew Livermore who is just as hard working and dedicated to the farm as my dad. Andrew, who is a high school senior at Madison, manages to help my dad in the morning before school, continue to help dad after school, and do all of that in between school work and playing goalie on the Madison varsity soccer team. Andrew is always my dad right hand man when he is in a bind or caught between his two jobs and is always there to help when needed. I am so proud of my brother and I know that he is going to grow up to do great things.

The Livermore Farm is going strong into its fourth generation of farmers and I am so proud to be a part of the Livermore heritage. I always enjoyed growing up and living on a farm, learning the importance of hard work, dedication, and lending a hand. My dad has been on the farm since he was born and he will continue to run the farm until he is old and grey and can’t bend over to milk the cows. Livermore Farms is a family operated establishment run and supported by cousins, uncles, brothers, aunts, sisters, and of course love, commitment, and hard work.
