Due to changes to Main Street in Boonville that occurred in the fall of 2014, the route of the Oneida County Fair parade has changed.

The parade route change was first rumored on the What's Happening in Boonville Facebook page and were officially addressed on social media by Boonville Oneida County Fair that, yes, the long-standing traditional parade route has changed at the behest of the New York State Department of Transportation. The DOT has stated they will not allow a long-term closure of Main Street (Route 12D) to accommodate the parade.

According to the Fair's Facebook posting, the new parade route,

will start at the corner of Charles Street and Academy Street. It will proceed up Academy Street to Post Street. We will turn right on Post Street and then left on Ford Street and continue up Ford Street to the fairgrounds. We realize that changing the parade route is breaking a tradition that was set many years ago, but unfortunately the decision was out of our hands and we certainly didn’t want to cancel the starting event of our great fair. Hopefully everyone understands this change and still shows us the support we have had in previous years. We look forward to seeing you at this years events.

The parade is planned for 7PM on Tuesday July 28, the opening day of the fair.
