It's National Bologna Day, honoring one of my favorite comfort foods, the fried bologna sandwich.  I don't care if it does stink up the house.  And I've heard the stories, "that's made from horse hooves and pig lips."  It's not, in fact you may be surprised how it's made.

While this video from the Travel Channel may not be very appetizing, it proves horse hooves and pig lips aren't involved.

As a former North Country resident, I'd have to vote Croghan Bologna my favorite.  And there's just 2 secrets to a good fried bologna sandwich.

1. burn the bologna

2. soft white bread

Smash them together and forget the condiments.  I encourage you try one today.
