A precautionary boil water advisory is in effect for parts of Annsville.

A transmission main break resulted in a loss of pressure and water service for many parts of the town including Amos Trailer Park, Collins Trailer Park, Leisure Village (Martin Court), the Taberg Water District 75 (Matt and Sarah Drive) and the service area along the Lee Center Taberg Road.

The City of Oneida Water Department says that the boil water advisory is expected to remain in place until February 6, 2014.

During the time during which the advisory is in effect residents cannot drink the water without boiling it first.  Water must first be brought to a boil) and kept boiling for one minute) and then cooled before it is suitable for drinking.  Of course residents may also have the option of using bottled water.

The department says that boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and preparing food until further notice.

No contamination has been detected and the water department says this is only a precautionary measure.
