Technology knows no boundary. The Department of Environmental Conservation has come up with an App for Black Bears. iSeeMammals is free and available for Android and Apple devices.

The DEC developed the app in hopes people would assist with tracking locations of bears, their habitat and the size. In addition to submitting your sightings you can also submit photos, take a recommended hike and set up a trail camera. If you activate GPS tracking on your phone it will even pinpoint the location where you took the picture.

You can still partake in the "Citizen Science" program without the use of a phone by using the iSeeMammals website.  However it's limited to submitting reports and viewing photo galleries. Here's how it works.
