While most people were hitting Twitter yesterday, April 8, with Easter wishes and pictures of dyed eggs and family gatherings, Billy Ray Cyrus got his fans’ attention with a much more somber tweet. The ‘Hillbilly Heart’ singer and author sent out a message to his fans asking for prayer for his mother’s health.

“Please say a prayer for my Mom ‘Ruthie,’” Cyrus tweeted on Sunday. “She is in critical care at the hospital this morning. On my way to be with her. God Bless You All.” Though Cyrus didn’t update his fans on his mom’s condition last night, he did get back on Twitter to post a photo of him with daughter Miley Cyrus on a Good Friday motorcycle trip. “Before the news of MAMAW,” he said, adding, “Thank U all for your kind loving heartfelt prayers!”

Billy Ray wasn’t the only one in the Twittersphere rallying prayer warriors for his mother. Miley also took a moment to thank her fans for their support, tweeting, “glorious easter sunday. thanks for all the love today. meant a lot to me and my family. xo keep prayin.’”

Last week, Billy Ray Cyrus spent two mornings co-hosting the ‘Today’ Show with Kathie Lee Gifford, where he premiered the title track to his upcoming record ‘Hillbilly Heart,’ a song which carries the same title as his memoir, due to hit store shelves October 9.

We at Taste of Country hope Cyrus’ mother is doing better and that the family was still able to enjoy their Easter together!
