Billy Crystal got choked up several times, remembering his friend Robin Williams during the Emmy Awards. 'For almost 40 years, he was the brightest star in the comedy galaxy.'

Crystal had the pleasure of working with Williams or at least trying to. 'He made us laugh, hard. Every time you saw him. I spent many happy hours with Robin on stage. I use to think if I could put a saddle on him and stay on for 8 seconds, I was going to be okay,' jokes Crystal.

Crystal shared a memory of when he, Williams and Whoopi Goldberg were in the broadcast booth at Shae stadium for comic relief day. 'Robin knew nothing about baseball. I asked him 'what's your favorite team?' He said the San Francisco's. He was lost in the conversation so I said we have a Russian baseball player with us. When I asked him what baseball was like in Russia, without missing a beat he said 'we have one team. The Reds.''

In addition to sharing the stage with Williams, Crystal got to call Williams his friend. 'As genius as we was on stage he was the greatest friend you could imagine. It's very hard to talk about him in the past because he was so present.'

Even though Williams is gone, his memory will live on through his films and Crystal says we can look to the heavens and know he's looking down on us all. 'It'll warm your heart. It'll make your eyes glisten and you'll think to yourselves, Robin Williams, what a concept.'

Robins died August 11th, committing suicide and shocking the world. Three days later, his widow announced he'd been battling the early stages of Parkinson's Disease.

Williams filmed four movies before he died.  All will be released over the next year.
