Big Name Actors Who Got Their Start On “Miami Vice” [VIDEO]
Everybody’s got to start somewhere, even actors who have dreams of stardom. Looking back it seems like the popular 1980’s series “Miami Vice” was a great place to start. You’ll be amazed at just how many big names got their start alongside “Crockett” and “Tubbs”.
Mental Floss came up with quite a cast.
JIMMY SMITS: Season 1, Episode 1—Truth be told Smits was originally cast as Sonny Crocketts partner Eddie Rivera. He didn’t makle it past the pilot episode.
BEN STILLER: Season 4, Episode 2—He played a small-time con named Fast Eddie Felcher.
BRUCE WILLIS: Season 1, Episode 7–He played arms dealer extraordinaire Tony Amato in the show’s first season. Four months later he debuted on “Moonlighting” with Cybil Shepard.
JULIA ROBERTS: Season 4, Episode 22–She made an appearance as Polly Wheeler, an art gallery manager/drug dealer’s assistant with a penchant for bad boys.
MICHAEL RICHARDS: Season 2, Episode 17–Years before “Kramerhood” he played a sleazy bookie.
CHRIS ROCK: Season 4, Episode 7–In what many critics called the worst episode of the series he played an eager young records clerk who the squad tasks with researching UFOs and aliens.
Believe it or not this is just the tip of the iceberg. The complete list includes, among others, Stanley Tucci, Kyra Sedgewick and John Turturro. Check out these clips of Ben Stiller and Michael Richards. You can almost hear “Kramer” in the latter clip.
