Emily has been diagnosed with a rare form of auto immune encephalopathy called SREAT or Hashimotos Encephalopathy. She has been admitted to the hospital 5 times over the last 11 months on an emergency basis. She is currently on many medications including an immune suppressant and continuing at home IV pulse treatments with the goal of putting this disease into remission. It’s a very aggressive, relapsing condition which limits her abilities both neurologically and physically. She is a trooper though, and on the good days she acts like any other nine year old.
