Benefit Being Held For 9-Year-Old Emily Curtiss
Emily Curtiss is a 9-Year-Old girl who is suffering from a disease called Hashimoto’s Encephalopathy. The term “encephalopathy” refers to a disease of the brain that alters brain function or structure. The key feature of any encephalopathy is altered mental state. A benefit is being held in Boonville to help with the medical expenses from this costly disease.
Emily has been diagnosed with a rare form of auto immune encephalopathy called SREAT or Hashimotos Encephalopathy. She has been admitted to the hospital 5 times over the last 11 months on an emergency basis. She is currently on many medications including an immune suppressant and continuing at home IV pulse treatments with the goal of putting this disease into remission. It’s a very aggressive, relapsing condition which limits her abilities both neurologically and physically. She is a trooper though, and on the good days she acts like any other nine year old.
Emily needs your help! As you can imagine, medical costs are through the roof and with this being a recurring disease, Emily and her family never have a break from the costly medical visits. The money raised will also help cover travel expenses as Emily has had to go back and forth from Boonville to Boston Children’s Hospital.
Join Team Emily for a benefit Saturday, May 31st from 2:00pm-?:??. The benefit will take place at the Elk’s Club in Boonville. The cost is $15 for a single ticket, $20 for couples, and children 12 and under get in free. There will be food, drinks, a 50/50 raffle, a Chinese Auction and more. Please think about attending this great event for a wonderful little girl.
