Australian blogger Belle Gibson was caught lying that she had cancer, and that a gluten-free diet cured her. She did all of this in order to sell a book.

The Frisky reports Gibson claimed she cured her terminal brain cancer with diet and “lifestyle changes.” She even published a book, and created the popular app “The Whole Pantry”. How did she eventually get caught? She also lied about donating money she was making.

Her whole thing started to fall apart earlier this year when it was discovered that while she had promised to donate some $300,000 in profits from her phone app, she had actually kept all of that money for herself. Soon after, people started delving into her life and figuring out that no, she did not actually have cancer."

The truth came out when Gibson admitted to Australian Women’s Weekly that she never had brain cancer. Gibson is receiving a world of backlash, from angry messages to Apple pulling her app off of the iTunes store. She plans to now actually give the money she said she was giving to charity to charity.
