The New York Jets have released some big name players in an effort to get under the NFL's salary cap. The Jets will save about $31 million in cap space by releasing Bart Scott and 4 others.

Fellow linebacker Calvin Pace, safety Eric Smith, lineman Jason Smith, and Josh Baker were also released. Next up for New York will be a decision on Mark Sanchez. If cut Sanchez will hit the Jets salary cap for $17 million, but only $8.25 million if kept. Unless a trade can be worked out, expect Sanchez to be back next season. However, the same cannot be said for Tim Tebow who's release is expected to be announced in the near future. Read more on the Jets roster moves here.
