On September 19th, a Bald Eagle was found shot and dead near the Chenango Valley State Park. Now the state has offered a reward for answers on it's death.

Bald eagles are no longer listed under the Endangered Species Act, but they are still federally protected. They are protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for info on what happened.

Anyone with information about the shooting to contact either Special Agent Jason Bak with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in Albany at (518) 431-4341 or the New York Department of Environmental Conservation Poaching Hotline at 1-800-TIPP-DEC (1-800-847-7332)."

Chenango Forks is located just outside of Binghamton.
