Even though the "Frog Days Of Summer" are still officially with us, it's back to school week. Most area kids will be going back to class this week, and that means that all of us have to drive extra carefully. As you may know, drivers must come to a complete stop on both sides of the street when school buses are flashing red lights. The red lights indicate that kids are either getting on or off the bus, and will be crossing the street.

The busiest times for kids on the streets is early morning, waiting for the school bus and mid afternoon, from 2 p.m. until about 4 p.m. when they return home. Also, being the first week back, kids are more excited, and many will be walking to and from school, so we drivers have to pay special attention to the increase in young pedestrian traffic.

Please remember to drive extra carefully once school is back in session, and make sure you reduce your speed accordingly in those school traffic areas.
