While few are using the day after Labor Day to release new music, Sept. 11 is literally packed with new music. Miranda Lambert Takes Alaskan Fishing Vacation
What does Miranda Lambert do between shows? She visits Alaska to go fishing. A Taste of Country reader sent us these pictures of the ‘Fastest Girl in Town’ singer reeling ‘em in by the dozens when she was on a mini-vacation earlier this month, sans husband Blake Shelton. The break came during a trip to the Last Frontier for an August 2 show in Anchorage.

Eli Young Band vs. JB and the Moonshine Band – The Showdown
Fans of Eli Young Band pulled off one of the greatest Showdown upsets of all time on Tuesday. The group’s new single ‘Say Goodnight’ topped Taylor Swift‘s brand new single from her upcoming ‘Red’ album, ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.’ That makes it three in a row for the Texas foursome’s love ballad. On one (woman’s) hand, it’s an empowering breakup song that slams the door on every no-good loser who’s come crawling back with apologies and “I love yous” (and maybe flowers or a sack of White Castle hamburgers) at all hours of the night. Indiana State Fair Marks One Year Since Fatal Stage Collapse
It’s been one year since the rigging above Sugarland’s stage toppled onto excited fans waiting for the band to begin their show at the Indiana State Fair. Seven were killed and dozens were injured in the tragic accident. Tonight (August 13), they’ll be remembered during a pause in the activities at the 2012 Indiana State Fair.

Marshall Tucker Band Guitarist Stuart Swanlund Dead at 54
The longest standing member of the Marshall Tucker Band died on Saturday. Stuart Swanlund, guitarist for the group since 1985, passed away in his sleep. He had been taking a hiatus from the band to deal with health issues.

Luke Bryan vs. Randy Rogers Band – The Showdown
Luke Bryan fans are up for a challenge. For the second straight day, they made ‘Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye’ the Showdown champion. Yesterday and last night on Taste of Country Nights, the fourth single from ‘Tailgates and Tanlines’ topped Casey James‘ new single ‘Cryin’ on a Suitcase.’ The competition only gets stiffer as the new hit moves toward Showdown immortality.
