It's been the number one movie in American for the past two weekends, and the author of the best-selling book the film is based on will speak at Utica's Stanley Theater Friday night.  Margot Lee Shetterly's "Hidden Figures" tells the true story of the black women who worked as mathematicians for NASA and helped America launch the manned space program.  In doing this, these women had to overcome the obstacles of race and gender discrimination.

Shetterly will speak at the Stanley Center for the Arts on Friday at 7 P.M.  General admission tickets are $25 for adults.  They are on sale at the Stanley box office or online at thestanley.org.

The movie "Hidden Figures" stars Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, Janelle Monaw, Kevin Costner, Kirsten Dunst and Mahershala Ali.  It's earned nearly $55 million in it's first 2 weeks at U.S. theaters.
