Are There Too Many College Football Bowl Games?
First of all, congratulations to the Syracuse Orange. They will meet up with West Virginia in the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium, December 29th. Go Orange. Now having said that let me then say, “What is a Pinstripe Bowl?”. Since the NCAA lowered the qualification for bowl eligibility to 6-6 we have seen a parade of mediocre teams playing each other in an ever increasing number of games. Exactly how many bowl games are there?
There are 35 bowl games this year including the following must-see match ups.
Idaho Potato (Dec. 15, Boise, Idaho):Utah State (10-2) vs. Toledo (9-3)
Buffalo Wild Wings (Dec. 29, Tempe, Ariz.):TCU (7-5) vs. Michigan State (6-6)
Belk (Dec. 27, Charlotte, N.C.): Duke (6-6) vs. Cincinnati (9-3) (Belk? What’s a Belk?)
LittleCaesars Pizza (Dec 26, Detroit): Western Kentucky (7-5) vs. Central Michigan (6-6)
Wow. I wish they started tomorrow. The again, maybe they do. For a full list of bowl games click here.
