On our Farm Hands tour, Polly and I have visited 3 dairy farms.  While all were similar in the number of cows they milked, the process was much different.  Watch this video from inside the Kel Vista Holsteins farm in West Winfield.

The Gallagher Farm in Waterville, Sandefer Hills Farm in Rome and Kel Vista all milked 85 to 90 cows a day, but that was where the similarity ended.  All three farms used different milking systems and had varied ways of delivering feed.

Kel Vista had the most calves we had seen, in fact a calf barn that was home to around 20 head, 3 months and under.  They also had a very elaborate set up for grinding feed that used elevators to deliver the product to the grinder.  And while I know it's not called a zamboni, (I still like calling it that), to deliver feed to the herd. Watch the video below for a look inside.

A big thank you to Carl and Kim Nelson for their hospitality, another thing all three farms had in common.  And especially their daughter, Amanda who gave us the tour.  We'd love to visit your farm, (it doesn't have to be a dairy farm).  Click here to get details on Farm Hands with White's Farm Supply.  We even bring breakfast, thanks to Riverside Diner in Marcy.
