Graduation season is here.  Many college graduations were held this past weekend, and high school ceremonies will be in full force in the next few weeks.  When it comes to the job market, there's a lot more jobs in agriculture than there are people to fill them.  According to the USDA there will be about 60-thousand "ag-related" jobs available every year, but only around 35-thousand college graduates to fill those positions.  Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack says there are great opportunities for highly skilled graduates.

Not only will those who study agriculture be likely to get well-paying jobs upon graduation, they will also have the satisfaction of working in a field that addresses some of the world's most pressing challenges. These jobs will only become more important as we continue to develop solutions to feed more than 9 billion people by 2050."

A report conducted by the USDA's National Institute of Food and Agriculture and Purdue University says the strongest fields will be "plant scientists, food scientists, sustainable biomaterials specialists, water resources scientists and engineers, precision agriculture specialists, and veterinarians."  Read the entire report here.
