America’s Best Toilet Paper

My wife recently sent me to the store to pick up some toilet paper. Naturally I purchased the least expensive brand and happily made my way home expecting to be complimented on my sense of thrift. Wrong. My wife took one look in the bag and said, “This isn’t Charmin! Where is the Charmin?” The lesson I learned is that not all TP is the same and this fact is underscored by a new Consumer Reports study of 25 brands to determine which is the best. The results?
Based on softness, strength, ease of tearing and “greenness” here are the top brands.
#1) Walmart’s White Cloud 3-Ply Ultra Soft and Thick $0.25
#2) Quilted Northern Ultra Plus $0.38
#3) Walmart’s Great Value Ultra Strong $0.27
#4) Walmart’s White Cloud Soft and Thick $0.19
#5) CVS Premium Ultra $0.40
