We now know why Dexter Roberts left the American Idol tour. He was suffering from Rocky Mountain Spotter Tick fever. Roberts broke the news on his Facebook page.

After Idol ended Roberts went turkey hunting and found several ticks on the 4 day hunt which he says is 'nothing unusual for turkey hunting.'

When the Idol tour began Roberts began suffering from severe headaches, chest pains, muscle weakness, abdominal pain and shortness of breath. He left the tour and after months of hospital and doctor visits he was diagnosed with Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever.

The disease can be difficult to diagnose in the early stages, and without prompt and appropriate treatment it can be fatal, according to Wikipedia.

Roberts is now on medication and praying he'll be fine. We wish Dexter the best and hope he's back to his old self soon.
