American Idol Finals – Who Will Win?

The fate of the final two on ‘American Idol‘ is now in the hands of the voters.  Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez performed three songs each on last night’s finale.  The first song was the producers choice, the second was their favorite song of the season and the last was the winners single.  Phillip won the coin toss and picked Jessica to go first.

Jessica opened the show with Whitney Houston’s ‘I Have Nothing.’  Although it wasn’t a moment like when she sang ‘I Will Always Love You,’ it was still powerful.

Phillip Phillips
Phillip started with Ben E. King’s ‘Stand By Me,’ and like he usually does, he put his own spin on the song.  It was good but a little slow and in the end, the judges felt round one went to Jessica.

Round 2
The two picked their favorite songs of the season for round two and Jessica choose ‘The Prayer‘ by Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli, while Phillip went with Billy Joel’s ‘Movin’ Out.’

Round 3
Round three was the song the winner will release for their first single.  Jessica was given a pop song that didn’t really suit her called ‘Change Nothing.’  The judges weren’t fans of the tune and didn’t think she did much with it to make it her own.  Will it hurt her chances of winning?

Phillip Phillips was given a song called ‘Home,’ and although it’s the same title as the Dierks Bentley song, it didn’t sound anything like it.  It didn’t sound like anything on the radio right now.  It was a Phillip Phillips song and was so good, it may have won him the title.

American Idol will crown this years winner during the finale on Fox starting at 8.  Last year’s winner Scotty McCreery will be back and rumors are John Fogerty will join Phillip Phillips on stage, while Reba McEntire will sing with Skylar Laine.

A nationwide poll has Jessica taking the title this year but what do you think?  Who will be the next American Idol?  It comes down to personal taste.  Do you prefer the 16 year old with a voice well beyond her years?  Jessica can hit almost any note and can sing any song.  She takes on Diva’s most wouldn’t think of attempting like Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and Whitney Houston.  Or are you a fan of Phillip’s originality?  He has the ability to take any song  by any artist and make it his own.  Vote for who you think will win this year.
