The murder of Alex Kogut is getting national attention.  Seventeen Magazine is profiling her death in an article on abusive relationships and domestic violence.

Kogut died September 29th, 2012 when she was allegedly beaten to death by her boyfriend Clayton Whittemore. A tragedy but not an uncommon one.  According to Seventeen, one in ten young men say they're capable of hitting their girlfriend. Several men who have served jail time for beating the women in their lives were interviewed for the article.  They say there are definite warning signs that shouldn't be ignored.

If Alex's story can touch one person, she won't have died in vain. Maybe a girl in a similar situation will read her story and get out before it's too late.

There's a link to the National Domestic Violence Hotline (800.799.SAFE) for anyone who has questions about their own relationships.

The full article appears in the March 2013 issue with Carly Rae Jepsen on the cover.
