The USDA is making money available for improving storage facilities for small to mid-sized farming operations.  Low interest loans are available for grain bins, hay barns and cold storage facilities.

The Farm Storage Facility Loan program makes up to $50-thousand available for 2015 storage needs.

The low-interest funds can be used to build or upgrade permanent facilities to store commodities. Eligible commodities include grains, oilseeds, peanuts, pulse crops, hay, honey, renewable biomass commodities, fruits and vegetables.

In addition to storage the funds can also be used for sorting bins, wash stations and other food safety-related equipment.  To get more information call the USDA at (315) 736-3316, ext. 2 or online at the Farm Service Agency.
