Want to make some improvements to your dairy operation?  The NY Department of Agriculture will help pay for the cost of certain projects.  The Dairy Acceleration Program pays up to 80% of the expense on certain projects for smaller dairy farms.

The Dairy Acceleration Program is designed to enhance profitability of NY dairy farms and to maintain a commitment to environmentally responsible growth.  Funding is available for building new facilities or remodeling a current operation.  The projects are aimed at smaller dairy farmers with preference given to operations under 300 cows.  Some of the projects are; roofs and covers over a barnyard, composting facility, waste storage, separation and transfer.

Some of the requirements:

  • Must be a dairy cattle farm shipping milk.
  • Must have complete financial records for business planning.
  • Must have a current CNMP if applying for funds to design BMPs.
  • Preference is given to farms with under 300 cows.
  • Must complete and submit an application.
