A New Study Says Women Grumpier In the Morning Than Men

Who is more likely to get up on the wrong side of the bed, you or your mate? A new study from Duke University shows–clearly I might add–that women are grumpier in the morning than men. My wife may not agree with me but just check the data.
The study was conducted on 210 healthy middle-aged men and women, non smokers, with no medication issues.
“We found that for women, poor sleep is strongly associated with high levels of psychological distress, and greater feelings of hostility, depression and anger. In contrast, these feelings were not associated with the same degree of sleep disruption in men,” says Edward Suarez, an associate professor in the department of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Duke
There are a number of reasons for poor sleep but women need 20 minutes more shut eye than men so sleep deprivation has a more profound effect on the ladies. Along with a more sour mood lack of sleep can contribute to a number of health issues including heart disease and diabetes.
